Classification of blogs & opinion about the most appropriate classification approach

Classification of blogs

Different blogs are created for different purposes. Each blog have a specific target of audience and content on different subject matters. According to Sabahan (2007), there are different subject matters in the blogging such as:-
  • Politic: http://blog.limkitsiang.com/
  • Personal: http://www.kennysia.com/
  • Entertainment: http://yasminthestoryteller.blogspot.com/
  • Marketing: http://www.gobalakrishnan.com/
  • Technology: http://www.cypherhackz.net/

  • Education: http://educationmalaysia.blogspot.com/
  • Literature: http://tehranifaisal.blogspot.com/

Moblog also known as mobile blogging are device that could be used to upload a new posting via mobile (David, 2008). It could upload photo, pictures and even video to the posting.



There are 8 media types blogging:-
  • Linkblog: Sharing link as socialising
  • Podcast: Recording in MP3 format and specially created for audio purposes
  • Videoblog/Vlog: Recording in MP4 and wmv format and specially for video purposes
  • Microblog: Message are in short text format
  • Miniblog/reBlog: Using 3rd parties information to post rather than creating a post that are original
  • Liveblog: Live telecasting or event
  • Blog: Consists of different types of blog
  • Moblog: Posting to be uploaded via mobile  

Status of publishers: business & corporate blogs:-
With high information technology and Internet services, corporate are fully utilising the services offered by creating blogs for business purposes. Blogs could be used as an advertising tool, providing customers with new product update, providing a place for discussion or feedback, enhancing the company brand name and image, and also for b2b to takes place.
